EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SECTOR

Emergency services such as the 911 call system provides the public with access to fire, medical, and law enforcement services during emergencies. This system is dependent on the voice transmission networks to deliver this service. The typical networks providing access are the wireline, wireless, and cable networks. Wireline networks are Public Switched Telephone Networks (PSTN). Broadband networks over cable medium provide voice over the internet protocol (VoIP), and Next-Generation Network (NGN) technologies which are capable of emergency telephony services.
